Amanda Kirby
With over a decade of dedication to the club, Amanda Kirby is one of the most experienced and impactful coaches at YMS. Originally from Bensalem, Pennsylvania, Amanda brings a unique blend of athletic experience, educational expertise, and deep empathy to her work with players.
A graduate of Conwell-Egan Catholic High School, Amanda played her senior year with YMS before competing at the collegiate level for Gwynedd Mercy College, where she was a standout defender and team leader. Her playing career was marked by honors including All-Conference First Team, Team MVP, and Gwynedd Mercy’s Defensive Player of the Year—recognition of her talent, work ethic, and soccer IQ.
Now in her 13th year coaching at YMS, Amanda leads the 2008 Girls Spirit Premier team and also coaches the Holy Ghost Prep as an assistant to the varsity team. One of her most memorable coaching highlights came when the 2008 Girls finished at the top of their bracket at the Jefferson Cup—a major benchmark in the team’s development and a proud moment in her career. The girls have had continued success winning the EPYSA State Cup NCS 3 times (2021, 2022, & 2024) and a deep nationals run in 2023!
Amanda holds both the USSF D License and the United Soccer Coaches Advanced National Diploma, reflecting her deep commitment to continued coaching education. In 2023, her excellence and leadership were formally recognized when she was named EDP Coach of the Year for Girls Full-Sided—a distinction awarded to coaches who demonstrate outstanding performance, sportsmanship, and impact at the highest levels of youth soccer.
Her coaching philosophy centers around the belief that sports have a powerful influence on youth development. “Playing sports as a child not only helps kids physically but teaches important life skills like teamwork, perseverance, and discipline,” she says. Amanda strives to build confidence, resilience, and joy in every athlete she coaches.
A natural relationship-builder, Amanda values the strong bonds she’s formed with players and families over the years. “I have built such great relationships on the field—it keeps me passionate about coaching,” she says. Her advice to players is clear and timeless: “Always work hard and ask for help when needed!”
